The day after Tuesday is... 🤔

Exactly! Hump Day! 🎉

Did you know Wednesday has this rather funny name in American English?

🐪 Hump Day!

The term “hump day” comes from the image of a hump—like the hump on a camel’s back. 🐪

Because Wednesday is roughly the middle of the workweek, you can picture yourself climbing up the hump from Monday and Tuesday. Once you get over Wednesday, you’re on the downhill stretch toward the weekend!

Monday → Tuesday → 🐪 Wednesday → Thursday → Friday → 🎉 Weekend!

So, when someone says:

“Happy Hump Day!”

they're basically saying:

“We’re halfway there! The weekend is getting closer!” 😄

💡 Language tip:
Hump Day is informal and especially common in American English. It’s usually used in a light-hearted way to talk about getting through the workweek.
